The Greendale Public library is a member of the Milwaukee County Federated Library System. We are a medium sized library located in the heart of the Village of Greendale's beautiful downtown civic area, just a little south of the Southridge Shopping Mall.

Catalog of Materials

The Library is a member of the Milwaukee County Federated Library System, and as such, uses the CountyCat computer system. Feel free to ask for help at the Information Desk when using the CountyCat in the library. To use the CountyCat from home, click on MCFLS County Cat.

Circulation Services

Community Meeting Room

The Municipal Building has a meeting room that is scheduled through the Library Director. The room is 1,000 square feet and can be divided in two with a room divider. The room is available to Greendale residents and community organizations. Please click here to read the Meeting Room Policy

E-mail Your Reference Questions & Reserve Requests

Click here to email your information questions to our librarians. We check our e-mail once an hour and respond as time allows. Your reserves will be entered on your record and the library will notify you when your material is available. Remember, you can place your own reserves online by clicking on County Cat.

Exam Proctoring

Taking a proctored exam? The library offers exam proctoring services based on the availability of personnel, facilities and technology to do so. Contact us for additional information.

Homebound Delivery Service

The Library offers homebound delivery of library materials to Greendale residents who are unable to visit the library in person. To view the application and eligibility rules, click here. After completing the form, the resident should return the application to the library to be considered for homebound service. Please contact the Library for additional information.

Online Collections

The Library subscribes to many online resources designed to assist with your informational needs. Most of these online databases are accessible from your home or office computer. Click here for a current list of the Library’s online databases.

Photocopier

The photocopier at the Library can make regular, black and white photocopies. It can enlarge, reduce, make multiple copies, and do two-sided copies on paper that is either 8 1/2" x 11", 8 1/2" x 14", or 11" x 17". The charge for each copy is 15 cents.

Public Access Computers

The Library has a network of public access computers that includes access to the Internet and Microsoft Office 2003 Suite (Word, Access, Excel, Power Point and Publisher). Milwaukee County residents can access these computers with a valid Milwaukee County Federated System Library card. Non-residents may access the computers by purchasing a one day guest pass for $1. Everyone who logs into the system is given one hour with the option to renew as long as there are no customers waiting to use a computer. Printing costs 15 cents per page for black and white and 75 cents a page for color. Portable devices may be connected to the network and users may save to a floppy disc or USB drive.

The Library also has an iMac in the youth area with word processing and educational gaming software. The iMac is not connected to the Internet.



Readers Advisory

The Librarians at the Information Desk are always willing to help patrons find something to read. Displays of books, both new and older, are available for the public to browse. There is a three-ringed binder of reading lists in various categories, as well as many books designed just for helping the reader determine what they would like to read next. Be sure to stop by and ask the Librarian for reading suggestions!

The Library has a pay telephone located at the outside Northeast corner of the Municipal Building.

Youth Services

WiFi Access

The Library is a wireless connection point. No password is required to log into the wireless network at the Library.
